Welcome to "The Wood Work Shop", a haven for craftsmanship nestled in the scenic Corona Heritage Park and Museum. Established in 2003 by the esteemed Dennis Yuan, our workshop has become a cornerstone of the Corona community, celebrated for fostering creativity, skill, and a deep appreciation for the art of woodworking. Under Dennis's expert guidance, students from all walks of life embark on a journey of discovery and mastery, turning raw wood into pieces of art and functional objects. Here, at The Wood Work Shop, we're not just teaching woodworking; we're cultivating a community of passionate creators, equipped with lifelong skills and the inspiration to transform their visions into tangible realities. Join us and experience the joy and fulfillment of bringing your ideas to life in wood.

Beginning Woodworking Class Package

Goal: power tool usage and safety.

3 projects, 8 class meetings x 2.5 hrs. (Total 20 course hours)

1. Spindle turning a mallet for a rolling pin.

2. Table building a small table (ex: end table, coffee table, or nightstand). Learn to use the jointer, mitersaw and tablesaw. Also learn Mortise and Tenon joinery.

3. Bandsaw project a Keychain holder (learn drill press and bandsaw.

Also learn how to use a router, handplane, chisel and scraper.

Our Story

At the tender age of seven, Dennis Yuan's journey took him from the vibrant streets of Hong Kong to the diverse landscapes of the USA, carrying with him the foundational lessons of woodworking learned under his grandfather's tutelage. This early introduction to the craft, amidst the scents of sawdust and the sounds of shaping wood, deeply ingrained in him a passion that has spanned continents. Since 2003, nestled within the serene bounds of Corona Heritage Park, Dennis has been sharing this rich heritage and the intricate skills of woodworking with those eager to learn. His life, marked by the transition from a young apprentice in Hong Kong to a revered teacher in the US, embodies a profound connection to his roots and a dedication to passing on a craft that bridges generations and cultures.
